Toxins are everywhere in our environment, and are really hard to avoid. But you can avoid these 10 common toxic villains.
10. Processed foods
Processed foods are the number one thing on our list for a reason. They are everywhere-- readily available for fast and easy food choices for yourself and your children. Before choosing convenience over nutrition consider the number of pesticides, herbicides, chemicals, toxins, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners, and MSG that potentially you will ingest. Choose fresh, natural and organic foods to protect yourself and your family from toxins.
Genetically modified foods have absolutely no safe place in our diet. We are test subjects in this widespread experiment to genetically modify our food. There is little information about the long term effects on humans that consume genetically altered foods. What little research that has been conducted has found such foods to be harmful to the human immune system and a correlation with certain cancers.
8. Body Care Products
Personal care and bathroom products are made from caustic, cancer causing and, at best, irritating chemicals that the human body has only been exposed to in this last century. From chemically designed shampoos to paraben-laden lotions, our body’s natural defense system is defeated by these products each and every time. They highly affect our body’s endocrine system and absorbed through our body’s largest organ, our skin. Replace your personal care items with natural cleansers and skin care items. Tea tree oil has natural antimicrobial properties and coconut oil is a natural alternative to lotions.
7. Household Cleaning Products
Household cleaning products contain a dangerous mixture of chemicals and toxins that are used to sterilize your home and bring it to an unnatural state of cleanliness. The residues left behind by these cleansers are harmful to your pets and small children that lay and crawl on the chemically treated floors. When inhaled by you or your family, you take in a large number of toxins at once, creating a spike in your body’s immune system. Switch out your cleansers with a vinegar, water and lemon mixture that has an effective cleaning property that will leave your house smelling fresh.
Dangerous for both inhalation and/or skin contact, pesticides are lethal to bugs and harmful to humans. Pesticides are used in food production and remain on foods, even after being thoroughly washed. Purchase organic foods that are only subject to all natural pesticides and do not have harmful effects on your body.
5. Sugary Drinks, Alcohol and Sodas
Kool-aid, energy drinks, alcohol, soda and other sugary drinks are full of stimulants, artificial colors and sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup and additional sugar. All of these ingredients have the ability to cause damage to our fragile metabolisms. Children are the largest consumer of sugary type drinks. Try replacing your children's drinks with natural alternatives like fresh squeezed fruit juices, green smoothies and homemade lemonade with minimal added sugar. Instead of an alcoholic beverage after work, try making yourself a homemade mocktail that tastes delicious but without the negative side effects.
4. Mercury Fillings
Luckily, mercury fillings are becoming a relic of the past but they still remain in many older generations of people. They are an unnecessary source of toxic exposure to a deadly toxin that degenerates and destroys everything it contaminates. Mercury is one of the heaviest of the heavy metals and therefore very difficult to eliminate from the body. Visit your dentist and have any and all mercury fillings removed from your mouth as soon as you are able.
While a technological feat accomplished by doctors and scientists, many side effects of vaccinations can cause more harm than contracting the virus you are attempting to protect yourself from. Many parents are opting to not vaccinate their children to avoid the potential of autism and ADD from arising. Some view it as another unnecessary source of toxic materials to be exposed to. 2. Prescription Drugs and Antibiotics
Prescription drugs are often overused and abused. They become essential in situations that are life or death, or when other methods have been unsuccessful. On going use of these toxic chemicals will cause many different side effects and damage within your body. The widespread opioid pandemic is often a result of an addiction to painkillers being over prescribed to patients that complain of chronic pain or have recently had surgery. There is a rise in antibiotic resistance in our nation also due to overprescribing patients that have a simple cold or virus that simply needs to run its course. Before your doctor pulls out their script, question why before committing to taking a regime of pills.
1. Snack Foods
Candy, chips, and many other snack foods are another unnecessary source of toxic chemical preservatives, pesticides, artificial colors and sweeteners. Do the following to cut them out of your diet:
- Avoid contact with these toxic chemicals as much as possible. If you minimize your exposure, you minimize the damage.
- Purchase organic and toxin free products.
- Eat fresh, natural food snacks.
- Take fulvic acid to counteract the effects of ingesting toxins for a number of years.
