Published by Dr. Nuzum on Feb 27th 2021

Anytime is an ideal time to reevaluate your overall health and renewal. Taking the time to practice some self-care and doing a seasonal detox is the greatest gift to give yourself. Please note that detoxing is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women.

No matter which season is upon us, are you ready to take it on full force? If it happens to be spring/summer time you are aware that with it comes warm weather clothes and the swimsuit season. In the fall and winter season, many tend to put on a few extra pounds, wishing they could lose that extra. Here at Dr. Nuzum’s Nutraceuticals, we can assist you in detoxing in a gentle way.

Are you aware of the great benefits that detox can provide for your body and mind? It is more than simply looking great in a certain season or in your bathing suit on the beach. Your insides will thank you for this cleanse and likely reward you with feeling your best at a few pounds less.

Detoxification removes many toxins that cause imbalances throughout our bodies and is about cleaning and clearing the natural detoxification pathways so our bodies can remove contaminants effectively. Detoxification encompasses removing toxins absorbed through our diets, breathing the air, absorption through our skin, and other toxins we ingest from the environment around us.

Detoxification is probably the oldest medical modality known to man. All Indigenous Medical Traditions begin their healing processes with detoxification, cleansing, or purification. The daily exposure to chemicals, air pollution, pesticides, and herbicides wear down your body’s natural defense systems over time. It can leave you feeling fatigued and out of balance which can lead to illness and disease. We can help to reset our personal defenses by detoxing and ridding ourselves of toxins now.

What to do next? Assess your current lifestyle and begin the process of detoxification, but first here are the basics to get you thinking about detoxification and how it helps different body systems.

Evaluate the kind of food you are eating to nourish your body. Choose organic, non-GMO, and local ingredients whenever available. Unfortunately, many conventionally grown foods are saturated with herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, and wax coverings that are harmful to your digestive system and cause stress in the body. Remove processed foods from your diet as much as possible. One of the problems with processed foods and even inexpensive supplements containing minerals is that they contain heavy metals that can be quite harmful to your body.

Also, choosing local honey and raw milk will help reduce allergies such as a runny nose and eye irritation as spring/summer blossoms open up and again expose their pollen to the air.

Drink plenty of filtered water, eliminating toxins from your home environment, cleansing your colon, detoxing your lymphatic system, and helping your liver, kidneys, and gallbladder to detoxify are all main parts of the detoxing process you go through. You can learn more below in each section.

While detoxing, try your best to avoid drinking unfiltered tap water. Dr. Nuzum recommends pH balanced, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, free of heavy metals and potentially harmful pathogens. Staying hydrated is extremely important to aid in the evacuation of toxins from your body and lubricates your digestive tract and allows for freedom of movement in your kidneys, liver, gallbladder, and colon as they work through the detox process.

Elimination of toxins in your environment

To help protect your body from reabsorption of toxins during your detox process, spring clean your home of any potential toxins as well. Remove any chemical household cleaners and replace them with gentle, natural cleaning agents such as vinegar and baking soda. Common household items, such as plasticware, release chemicals like BPA that are harmful to our endocrine system. Consider replacing plastic containers, cups, and plates with glassware to remove the potential harm of BPA from your home. Consider getting a home air purifier or at least a quality air filter in your heating and cooling system.

Colon cleansing

If toxins cannot properly evacuate your body, a detox program can be more harmful than beneficial. Colon cleansing can occur in a number of ways and Digestive Detox is one key element because, in order for your body to naturally expel the toxins from your body, you must open up the elimination pathways. You can take Digestive Detox before bed to promote bowel movements or you can implement an enema into your detox program. It is helpful to cleanse the colon with a coffee enema and Dr. Nuzum recommends you do this if you are not having at least two movements a day.

Enemas have been used in many different cultures and have been called “one of the oldest medical procedures still in use today.” The use of enemas was recorded in early Greece and Egypt and they were also used in ancient China, Babylonia, India, and Sumeria. Today, we have sterile enema bags and tubing, but in ancient times enema kits were constructed from a hollowed-out leg bone and a dried animal bladder.

Using coffee in enemas did not appear in the medical literature until 1917. During WWI. Soldiers were often treated for pain using morphine, which would make them constipated.  The nurses treated this symptom with enemas. One of the nurses proposed using the leftover coffee that was constantly being made for the weary doctors and surgeons in the enemas, assuming the beneficial effects it had on the doctors might show up for the patients as well.Cleansing your body of all bacteria, parasites, and toxins in your colon will help you feel more clear-headed and healthier than ever.

Coffee enemas have many different positive effects on the body:

  • Removal of toxins
  • Detoxification of the liver and colon
  • Pain reliever
  • Constipation relief
  • Aids in releasing depression and anxiety
  • Increased energy levels
  • Improve digestion

Lymphatic detox

Your lymphatic system is a very large and complex system that also requires special attention when detoxing. It is comprised of lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, tonsils, and glands. It is this intricate system that processes the toxins and excessive fats before delivering them to the liver and kidneys to be filtered before expulsion.

You can easily cleanse your lymphatic system by shocking it with varying temperatures in the shower. While taking a hot shower suddenly switch the hot water off and let the cold water wash over you. Your blood vessels will dilate in the warmth and then constrict in the cold, creating a “pump” to help flush out this system. You can also implement dry brushing and avoid restrictive clothing.

Liver, kidney, and gallbladder

The liver performs hundreds of functions in the body. It is the second-largest organ in the body and is vital to digestion, detoxification, metabolizing, and more. Your liver is the main filter of your body and is the only organ that burns fat as fuel. The liver regulates your hormones, it is linked to thyroid health and cardiovascular health.

Foods that help cleanse the liver, kidneys, and gallbladder are artichokes, asparagus, cilantro, ginger, dark leafy greens, parsley, lemon, and garlic. Turmeric and beets are also very beneficial and can often be found at your local grocery store year-round. For additional assistance in removing toxins from your liver, integrate Super Chlorogenic into your detox regimen.

Detoxing is an intentional practice that can reset your body. Eliminating your body of toxins is vital to maintaining a healthy system. Consider starting a 2-Week Detox to help cleanse the liver from toxins, which will assist in restoring its full functionality. If you want a more vigorous detox check out Dr. Nuzum’s 21-Day Detox. Detoxification protocols will kick-start the healing within your liver and have a ripple effect for the rest of your body systems.

A big part of a detox program is to get rid of the toxins. To help combat toxins and fortify your body, Fulvic Acid is a very important addition to your detox program and one of the many things that can help replenish what our soil lacks in nutrients. Fulvic acid bonds to micro-nutrients and acts as a delivery system that helps the nutrients penetrate cell membranes, allowing vitamins and minerals to be absorbed by the cells and organs where they are needed. Once Fulvic acid releases these nutrients into your body, it then attaches to the toxic materials in your system and carries them out of your body as the fulvic acid leaves your system. This is especially important during a detox because, in order to efficiently get rid of toxins in your system, your body needs strength from good nutrition and assistance from something that will help it eliminate toxins effectively.
