Coronavirus, Covid-19

Published by Dr. Nuzum on Mar 24th 2020

Coronavirus first emerged in late 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. The virus SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) which is responsible for the COVID-19 disease (previously known as “2019 novel coronavirus”) has also been referred to as the “Chinese virus” by President Trump. None of these many names are the official names for this disease.

However, on February 11, 2020 the World Health Organization announced on twitter an official name for the disease that has caused the 2019 novel coronavirus pandemic. The new name of this disease is coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19. In COVID-19, ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease. Another former name was “2019-nCoV”.

With this coronavirus, it has the extreme genetic variability of RNA viruses, including coronaviruses [19], the many animal reservoirs for SARS-CoV, and the ability coronaviruses have to transmit relatively rapidly from species to species in a short period of time, the emergence of a new coronavirus, or re-emergence of a SARS-CoV-like virus, still poses a threat and represents a challenge for antiviral drug development and administration. Proving more important to turn to nonmedical/natural methods to boost the immune system, keeping it strong and less vulnerable. Also, resisting the urge to take part in a possible upcoming vaccination from the government which is at least a year and a half out.

COVID-19 traveled fast and wide, worldwide, becoming the global pandemic of 2020. Fear accompanied this disease and shortages of all sorts began and mass closures including schools, restaurants, government establishments, and a nationwide self-quarantine to stay home. Everyone is urged to only go out if completely necessary and in several communities they’ve issued a “stay in place” order. President Trump called on people to sharply limit their normal behaviors when it comes to eating out, shopping and socializing. Some helplessness and hopelessness have become prevalent as well as large amounts of community outreach to help those in need. All the while government leaders scrambled to stop the spread quickly using social distancing and closures of all kinds nationwide. President Trump announced a strict set of guidelines for Americans to follow for the next 15 days (beginning March 16th) to try to “slow the spread” of the coronavirus according to breaking news on CNBC.

Coronavirus is not exactly a new virus, but this strain is unique in how highly contagious it is and the way it spreads lightning fast. Coronavirus, COVID-19, is a respiratory disease causing a global health crisis. The majority of people can and do get over it with no complications. However, once contracted by sensitive groups (elderly or immunocompromised) it causes havoc with the complications that arise in these individuals. They must be hospitalized to receive special care. For many, it has been fatal.

There are natural methods to combat this virus, Beijing is promoting traditional medicine as a 'Chinese solution' to treat coronavirus according to a CNN report. This is something they are doing to help manage symptoms of the coronavirus in people in China. They are handing out a "lung-clearing and detoxing soup," every morning and evening, which is a herbal compound made with a traditional Chinese remedy blended from over 20 herbs, including ephedra, cinnamon twigs, and licorice root as a part of the Chinese government's push to use Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak. One particular patient infected by the COVID-19 coronavirus received acupuncture treatment at a Red Cross Hospital in Wuhan, China. All according to a CNN article linked here, People are reaching for natural treatment methods, globally.

In today’s world, we are exposed and will continue to be exposed to not only an unimaginable amount of toxic materials, but we are also exposed to massive amounts of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms and super viruses, like coronavirus, that conventional medicine has no answer for. “This makes imperative the need for the development of safe and potent alternatives to conventional antiviral drugs.”, according to the NCBI, National Center for Biotechnology Information. Dr. Nuzum couldn't agree more and has always been his mission from day one.

Although the question remains, how did this virus start and whether or not something else is going on here. The experts have many different opinions at this point. Some claim that this SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2), the virus that causes COVID-19, was engineered in a laboratory. Some say that this outbreak started from eating raw meat infected in a market, some say that this is a biological warfare item unleashed on the unsuspected, and yet others say that this is severely contagious “flu on steroids”. “Evidence has been presented that bats are the reservoir host of this virus since sequences of closely related viruses were found in these animals [4,5]. It is likely that SARS-CoV was transmitted from bats to humans via an intermediate host such as palm civets [68]. In addition, at least seven other species have been found to harbor SARS-CoV, including raccoon, dog, red fox, Chinese ferret, mink, pig, boar and rice field rat [9]. In one case, it was also shown that the pig may be capable of transmitting SARS-CoV to humans [10]. These facts suggest that SARS-CoV, or a virus-like it, may be lurking in the environment awaiting a special set of circumstances to erupt in a human infection”.

The one thing that all of the experts (including Dr. Nuzum) agree on is, those with low or poor immunity are the most susceptible and that immune enhancement is the only real answer to this current pandemic of slowing and eventually stopping it. But, how does coronavirus spread between humans? Like most “flu” viruses, coronavirus causes upper respiratory symptoms like cough, nasal congestion, fever, body aches all ranging in severity. Also possible, yet uncommon, GI tract symptoms like diarrhea and nausea. This virus can be spread by sneezing, coughing or even talking and that is why social distancing was put into effect during the pandemic. It is highly contagious and can even be spread by people who are asymptomatic (showing no symptoms), but are a carrier of the virus so keeping a distance of about 6 feet from the person near you is very important.

To additionally reduce the chance of contracting the coronavirus, we can and should turn our focus to enhance our immunity and ward off infection and maintain strong defenses. It is extremely important for us to stay alert to what is going on, stay calm and build our defenses so the virus doesn’t continue to spread. Panic and stress decrease our immunity, and our immunity is our only real defense. To reiterate, social distancing and staying home with family during this pandemic are crucial for slowing down the spread.

There are ways to boost the immune system now. First off eating a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables along with other healthy foods. Stay well-rested and hydrated so your body is functioning at its optimum. Adding supplements such as Curcumin and ginger are two of many natural substances that are helpful and both have antiviral properties. Silver has antiviral and antimicrobial properties and can be beneficial at fighting the virus for those already infected. Research states, “Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are considered to be a potentially useful tool for controlling various pathogens”.

Humic and Fulvic acids are paramount to their role as antiviral agents with potent antiviral potential. Here is a quote, from Review of Humic Acid May 2016, outlying the connection between viruses and Humic Acid, “In my opinion, Humic Acid is a wonderful example of how the Earth has provided us with a natural remedy to address an ever-present threat in the form of viruses. With thorough processing to ensure suitability for human consumption, it is now available as a very safe and effective means to protect against viral infections.” Fulvic Acid has had results that showed that humic/fulvic acid, when consumed before the virus invaded the body, was effective in preventing the new generation(s) of viruses from attaching to additional host cells.

Coronavirus FAQ’s

Can coronavirus be cured? Dr. Nuzums believes yes, people can and are healing from it.

How is coronavirus treated? There are no known treatments for this virus. Just treating the systems is all that can be done. Like any cold or flu, it has to run its course. People with compromised immune systems may and are the ones experiencing complications.

Does coronavirus live on your clothes? It has been reported that it does live on clothing but is quickly destroyed with hot water and detergent.

Does coronavirus live on surfaces? It has been reported to live up to 9 days on open surfaces.

Will coronavirus go away in the spring/summer/warm weather? We don’t know if the virus will go away as we enter the warmer months, as it is entirely possible that this virus could mutate and come back later on down the road. Some other viruses, like the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months. According to the CDC, there is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing. COVID-19 is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation.
